April 1996 Moss Side Manchester……………a sporting venue by the name of Maine Road………………..The home of Manchester City FC…………….No city aren’t at home this week………………what’s happening then??? To the sound of ‘The Swamp Thing’ Oasis begin what is now their most legendary gig of all time.
A certain Mr Noel Gallaher is wearing a pretty fetching cream bodied jacket with red sleeves and hood. The jacket becomes a big talking point with the Oasis fans and the jacket turns out to be Penfield. Both Noel and Liam and other changing band members over the years have been into to clothes and fashions so it was no surprise for Noel turn out that day in a head turning jacket. As the gig went on the band got into full swing playing classis including Supersonic, Roll With It, Cigarettes and Alcohol, Wonderwall and finishing with D’Yer Wanna Be a Spaceman before an encore of I Am The Walrus and Come Feel The Noise.
Some Might Say this was Oasis finest hour and they went on to do a second night when Noel wore yet another Penfield Jacket but this time in a different colour. On various other occasions Noel and Liam Gallagher were regularly seen wearing Penfield Clothing and with that it became a very popular brand.
